I remember seeing the trailer for this in theaters and feeling that familiar spark of excitement. I’m a massive fan of the first two - and yes, while the sequel didn't quite hit the heights of the original, it was still a fun ride. Naturally, I planned to catch this third installment on the big screen, but life happened, and I ended up streaming it at home. Honestly? My wallet is breathing a sigh of relief.

Don’t get me wrong - I was entertained. But as the credits rolled, I couldn't shake the feeling that this was easily the weakest link in the trilogy.

The gang’s all back, including the lovely Isla Fisher (who was sorely missed in the second film), and of course, my personal favorite, Jesse Eisenberg. It’s always a treat to watch Eisenberg do his thing, and having the full original roster back should have been a slam dunk. Instead, it felt like the magic (pun absolutely intended) had been replaced by a group of people just waiting for their direct deposit to hit. For a cast this talented, the energy felt strangely dull and lifeless, as if they were reading the script through a yawn.

The biggest sin, however, was the predictability. If there is one thing a movie about world-class illusionists should NOT be, is being predictable. I found myself two steps ahead of the twists, and for a franchise built on the “gotcha" moment, that’s a bit of a buzzkill. At times, the plot drifted into cheesy territory that even the smoothest card trick couldn't fix.

Is it a total disaster? No. If you’ve followed the Horsemen this far, you should definitely give it a go for the sake of closure. I enjoyed it enough to finish it, but the spark that made me fall in love with the first film just wasn't there. They say the sequel is never as good as the original - it turns out the third time isn't always the charm, either.

Final Verdict: Is it good or does it suck?

Watch it for the nostalgia, but don’t expect to be dazzled. It’s a decent trick, but we’ve definitely seen better.

JUNKYSCORE: 5/10
